Winterset park Engagement Session – Jordan & Henry

When Jordan reached out and in her first message mentioned her future husband’s “dad stache” I knew we were in for a good time. When we planned her engagement session, she wanted something more nature than city. I knew just the place, and we headed out to Winterset Park for their engagement session.

These two are getting married this September at The Beck. The Beck is one of my favorite Kansas City wedding venues that is an indoor reception and ceremony area. They even have a completely adorable garage door- that opens for a reprieve from the heat and it creates a really cool affect for photos. With such a unqiue and wonderful wedding venue, Jordan & Henry needed engagement photos to match. Therefore, when she told me they wanted outdoor photos, we headed to one of my favorite parks in KC. Winterset Park is perfect for engagement photos as it has several walking trails with beautiful spots for photos along the way.

Henry is a firefighter (like, one of those cool stereotypical ones that can also cook really freaking well) and Jordan leaves a bad ass double life as a real estate agent and 1st grade teacher. Together they make a hilarious and adorable couple who were delightfully easy to photograph. A lot of couples get a little nervous before their sessions. These two were no difference and we actually hiked with a bottle of whiskey in tow. BUT, the minute I told these two to turn their eyes on each other and pretend like I don’t exist.. They were immediately melty, ooey-gooey, and very obviously in love. It was absolute magic to watch.

These two met at a Christmas party and Jordan described him as “… the guy in a VERY small old lady sweater” and honestly that coupled with his mustache really just makes me happy. Their first I love you was said in line at a beer festival where she pretended she didn’t hear him so he’d say it again, and when we were done taking their engagement photos, we all took a shot of whiskey. Honestly, I couldn’t think of my more ideal couple if I tried. I’m so excited, honored, and all other exciting adjectives you could ever come up with to be their wedding photographer. Heck, we even had twin minds after the session and ended up at the same Longboards.

So take a minute and fall in love with these two as well. Specifically the brave lady who approached the couple whose home this gorgeous weeping willow belonged to. Hopefully we really did help the husband’s desire to keep it growing in their yard because it is well worth it. Cheers!
